Summary
iR Studio 1.0 marks the official launch of our 3D creation platform, providing a complete toolset for building and managing your virtual spaces, now easier and quicker than ever.
This milestone release brings a new avatar integration, an easy-to-use scene creation wizard, mobile viewer support, and significant improvements to lighting, rendering, publishing, analytics, and more.
New features
- Advanced avatar customization: Integrated a brand new avatar system by leveraging Ready Player Me into the platform, giving you access to a wide range of customization options.

- New Wizard for scene setup: Set up an e-commerce project, new scene, or full 3D experience in just a few clicks. If you need deeper control, you can still switch to the full Editor.
ℹ️ Check out our new guide "Create and publish your Space (Wizard setup)" for a complete overview of this feature.
- Custom domain support: You can now purchase and configure new domains to publish your scenes, connect existing domains to specific projects, and edit your ir.world subdomain for a custom web address.
- New publishing options:
- You can now unpublish iR Spaces iR Spaces, removing them from public access while keeping your project data intact.
- Compress on Publish: A new workflow that optimizes scenes by compressing assets, media, and textures into a single glTF file, significantly reducing memory usage and improving performance, especially on mobile devices. Accessible during publishing. Consider the following:
- Compression is one-way. Once a scene is compressed, it cannot be edited. However, a separate compressed version is created, preserving the original scene for future edits.
- Compression can reduce texture detail, so desktop users should consider the impact on visual quality.
- Mobile viewer support: Take your Spaces on the go! iR Spaces are now accessible on Android and iOS, allowing users to explore worlds directly from their mobile devices.
- Moderation tools: Users can report inappropriate content, and support agents now have the ability to review and act on reports to keep Spaces safe.
- New analytics dashboards: Monitor visitor sessions, track engagement, and review usage metrics to better understand how people use your virtual spaces.

Improvements
- Centralized asset management: All your custom files, uploads, 3D models, textures, and materials are now consolidated under the Assets tab for easier organization.

- Light and dark mode: Toggle between light and dark themes for a more comfortable editing experience. Available during signup and login, too.
- Enhanced lighting and rendering: Updated shadow casting, tone mapping, and post-processing effects deliver more realistic visuals.
- Updated chat system: The in-world chat UI has been improved for better usability, ensuring smoother interactions inside iR Spaces.
- Media playback enhancements: Updated the Video component and Audio component to ensure a more straightforward setup.
- Simplified colliders and rigid bodies setup: Creators can now automatically add colliders and rigid bodies to objects directly through the Model component. This simplifies the process of making objects react to physics.
Bug fixes
- Undo/redo improvements: Refined how undo/redo works on the Editor for a smoother editing workflow. See Shortcuts and hotkeys for more information on the available inputs.
- Lighting and shadow fixes: Resolved multiple issues that affected global illumination and shadow behavior.
- Optimized UI and loading: Streamlined loading screens and tweaked UI elements to make navigating Spaces Editor faster and more intuitive.
- P2P networking stability: Addressed multiplayer bugs to improve peer-to-peer connectivity.
Known issues
- File names with spaces or special characters: Can cause loading issues. We recommend avoiding spaces (" ") and special characters in file names until this is resolved.
- Video playback controls not visible: Currently, videos autoplay by default. A fix is planned for the next patch.
- Incorrect video dimensions on Wizard upload: When uploading videos to screens with the Wizard, the dimension gets warped and needs to be manually adjusted via Editor. We are working on getting a fix out in the following days.
- Nested rigidbodies in the hierarchy: Can cause unintended behaviors. Avoid applying Rigidbody components to child entities; only use it on parent objects.
- iOS users limited to default avatars: The new customizable avatars are not supported on iOS devices. We are actively working on enabling them for future releases.
