Spot Light component
The Spot Light component emits a cone-shaped beam of light in a specific direction, similar to a flashlight or stage spotlight. It allows for precise control over where light is directed in the scene.
Property | Description |
---|---|
Color | Sets the color of the light emitted. |
Intensity | Adjusts the brightness of the light. |
Angle | Defines the width of the light cone in radians. Smaller angles create narrower beams. |
Penumbra | Adjusts the softness of the spotlight's edges. Values range from 0 (hard edge) to 1 (soft edge). |
Range | Sets the maximum distance the light reaches. A value of zero means infinite range. |
Decay | Determines how the light diminishes over distance. Higher values cause the light to fade more quickly. |
Cast Shadows | Enables or disables shadow casting from this light. |
Shadow Bias | Adjusts the shadow's position to reduce visual glitches caused by shadow rendering. |
Shadow Radius | Controls the spread of the shadow's edges. |
- Focused lighting: Ideal for highlighting specific objects or areas in your scene.
- Directional control: Use the rotation tool to point the spotlight in the desired direction.
- Beam shaping: Adjust Angle and Penumbra to refine the beam's width and edge softness.
- No shadows: Spotlights cannot cast shadows in the current system.
- Position and orientation: Both are crucial for achieving the desired lighting effect.
- Performance: Be mindful of the number of spotlights used, as they can impact rendering performance.
